Midnight Orbit — the creation of an author pendant with a dark blue sapphire and natural diamonds in 14K gold

This article documents the creation of the Midnight Orbit pendant — an author piece crafted in the aesthetic of Luxury Handmade Jewelry at our independent jewelry atelier, Marchioness Jewelry Boutique.

This is not a mass-produced item and not a repeatable design.

It is a work where form, light, and proportion are born in the hands of the master — step by step.

The creation process

The work begins with gold.

White and yellow gold are melted separately to preserve the purity of each tone and to lay the foundation for the future two-tone architecture of the pendant.

The resulting ingots are rolled and prepared to precise parameters — thickness, density, and plasticity — required for further work.

Next, the setting for the central stone and the remaining elements of the composition are formed. Each element is created by hand, with a clear understanding of the final form and how light will interact with the metal surface.

One of the key stages is Diamond & Gemstone Setting.

Natural black diamonds are set entirely by hand, forming a dense, even line around the central stone and continuing upward toward the bail.

An accent white diamond set in white gold becomes the point that connects the elements and creates a visual transition between the levels of the composition.

Here, speed is not the priority — absolute precision is.

Every movement is calculated, every line precisely controlled.

After the stones are set, the elements are assembled into a single whole.

The pendant then undergoes final polishing — and only after that does it appear in the form you see at the end of the video: balanced, complete, and resolved.

A dark blue sapphire of an almost black shade, natural black diamonds, a cool white accent, and warm yellow gold create a calm yet expressive architectural form.
