A client brought in old gold and gemstones — materials that no longer formed a wearable piece, but still held value.
The objective was not to repair, but to rebuild.
At Marchioness Jewelry Boutique, an independent jewelry atelier in Toronto, we focus on custom and bespoke jewelry created with natural diamonds and gemstones. Each piece is developed from the ground up, with attention to structure, proportion, and long-term wear.
Materials
— 14K yellow gold, remade from the client’s original material
— natural tanzanites (pear and cushion cut)
— natural diamonds
Process
The process begins with melting the gold — resetting the material to create a new foundation.
Each setting is then built individually to match the exact geometry of the stones. Proportions are defined not only by design, but by structural integrity.
Once assembled, the piece moves into stone setting — a stage where precision defines everything: alignment, pressure, balance, and light performance.
The final stage is finishing and polishing, bringing the piece to its complete form.
Result
A one-of-a-kind pendant — fully rebuilt, with the original materials transformed into a new composition.
